The Destiny 2 Season Pass gives players access to exclusive content for the duration of the season. This includes new weapons, armor, and other gear that can only be obtained through the Season Pass. Everything we know so far about Destiny 2 Season Passes getting expensive:
Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has made an announcement that may raise some eyebrows in the gaming community. According to their recent blog post, the cost of Destiny 2’s season passes will be increased by 20%. This means that in order to purchase a season pass, players will have to shell out more money than before, in real-world currency.
The blog post, which covers a range of topics related to the game, explains that starting with Season 21, players will need an additional 200 Silver to purchase a season pass. Silver is one of the game’s currencies, and previously, a season pass would cost 1000 Silver. However, with this new change, the price has been increased to 1200 Silver. The price for a season pass with the additional 10 rank bundle has also gone up from 2000 to 2200 Silver. The issue here is that the only way to acquire Silver is through real-world money.
This change in pricing will be in effect for the new season, Lightfall, and it seems that Bungie is evaluating new approaches to post-launch content in the year of The Final Shape. However, the pricing for the Lightfall standard edition and Lightfall + Annual Pass edition will remain unchanged. The latter, which includes Seasons 20-30, may be the most cost-effective way to go for those who plan on playing every season but haven’t yet picked up the latest expansion.
It should be noted that in order to purchase a season pass, players need to have a minimum of 1200 Silver in their account, as bundles of 1100 Silver fall short of the required amount. Bundles of 500 Silver are available for £4.49/$5, but players will now have to spend additional money to purchase the required amount of Silver for a season pass if they don’t already have enough in their account. Bungie did not provide an explanation for this pricing change in their blog post.
For those eagerly anticipating the next season of Destiny 2, Season of the Deep, it is set to release on December 23rd.
